Mercurial > hg-stable
annotate mercurial/revlog.py @ 10913:f2ecc5733c89 stable
revlog: factor out _maxinline global.
This lets us change the threshold at which a *.d file will be split
out, which should make it much easier to construct test cases that
probe revlogs with a separate data file.

399 the underlying revision storage object
400 | |
401 A revlog consists of two parts, an index and the revision data.
402 | |
403 The index is a file with a fixed record size containing
6912 | 404 information on each revision, including its nodeid (hash), the |
1083 | 405 nodeids of its parents, the position and offset of its data within |
406 the data file, and the revision it's based on. Finally, each entry
407 contains a linkrev entry that can serve as a pointer to external
408 data. | |
409 | |
410 The revision data itself is a linear collection of data chunks.
411 Each chunk represents a revision and is usually represented as a
412 delta against the previous chunk. To bound lookup time, runs of
413 deltas are limited to about 2 times the length of the original
414 version data. This makes retrieval of a version proportional to
415 its size, or O(1) relative to the number of revisions.
416 | |
417 Both pieces of the revlog are written to in an append-only
418 fashion, which means we never need to rewrite a file to insert or
419 remove data, and can use some simple techniques to avoid the need
