grep: avoid reassigning byteskwargs to strkwargs

grep: avoid reassigning byteskwargs to strkwargs

PyCharm flagged each of these `get()` calls with bytes.  We still pass the bytes
form to the formatter to avoid changing the API, until all callers can be
changed.
