extdiff: log time spent in external diff program

We can't fix the time external diff programs take to run. Log that duration
for us to remove from any stats we gather

Create 2 heads containing the same file, once as
a file, once as a link. Bundle was generated with:

Merge them and display *_ISLINK vars
merge heads

  (branch merge, don't forget to commit)

Test working directory symlink bit calculation wrt copies,
especially on non-supporting systems.
