  $ hg rm a

  $ hg ci -m m a

  $ mkdir a b
  $ echo a > a/b

  adding a/b

  $ hg rm a
  removing a/b (glob)
  $ cd b

Relative delete:

  $ hg ci -m m ../a

  $ cd ..
