inotify: raise QueryFailed when the server crash

When the server crashes, it does not write back on the socket. The message
which is then read from the socket is '', which raises a TypeError.
Catching TypeError to raise QueryFailed instead.

Basic install:

 $ make            # see install targets
 $ make install    # do a system-wide install
 $ hg debuginstall # sanity-check setup
 $ hg              # see help
