commands: config option to control bundle compression level Currently, bundle compression uses the default compression level for the active compression engine. The default compression level is tuned as a compromise between speed and size. Some scenarios may call for a different compression level. For example, with clone bundles, bundles are generated once and used several times. Since the cost to generate is paid infrequently, server operators may wish to trade extra CPU time for better compression ratios. This patch introduces an experimental and undocumented config option to control the bundle compression level. As the inline comment says, this approach is a bit hacky. I'd prefer for the compression level to be encoded in the bundle spec. e.g. "zstd-v2;complevel=15." However, given that the 4.1 freeze is imminent, I'm not comfortable implementing this user-facing change without much time to test and consider the implications. So, we're going with the quick and dirty solution for now. Having this option in the 4.1 release will enable Mozilla to easily produce and test zlib and zstd bundles with non-default compression levels in production. This will help drive future development of the feature and zstd integration with Mercurial.

  $ echo "[extensions]" >> $HGRCPATH
  $ echo "extdiff=" >> $HGRCPATH

  $ hg init a

Should diff cloned directories:

  Only in a: b

  $ cat <<EOF >> $HGRCPATH

  > cmd.falabala = echo

  use external program to diff repository (or selected files)

      Show differences between revisions for the specified files, using the
      following program:

        'echo'

      When two revision arguments are given, then changes are shown between
      those revisions. If only one revision is specified then that revision is
      compared to the working directory, and, when no revisions are specified,
      the working directory files are compared to its parent.

  options ([+] can be repeated):

   -o --option OPT [+] pass option to comparison program
   -r --rev REV [+]         revision
   -c --change REV change made by revision
      --patch compare patches for two revisions
   -I --include PATTERN [+] include names matching the given patterns
   -X --exclude PATTERN [+] exclude names matching the given patterns
   -S --subrepos            recurse into subrepositories

  (some details hidden, use --verbose to show complete help)

  $ hg ci -d '0 0' -mtest1

  $ echo b >> a
  $ hg ci -d '1 0' -mtest2

Should diff cloned files directly:

#if windows
  $ hg falabala -r 0:1
  diffing "*\\extdiff.*\\a.8a5febb7f867\\a" "a.34eed99112ab\\a" (glob)

  $ hg falabala -r 0:1
  diffing */extdiff.*/a.8a5febb7f867/a a.34eed99112ab/a (glob)
  [1]
#endif

Specifying an empty revision should abort.

  $ hg extdiff -p diff --patch --rev 'ancestor()' --rev 1
  abort: empty revision on one side of range
  [255]

Test diff during merge:

  $ hg update -C 0
  1 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 0 files unresolved
  $ echo c >> c
  $ hg add c
  $ hg ci -m "new branch" -d '1 0'
  created new head
  $ hg merge 1
  1 files updated, 0 files merged, 0 files removed, 0 files unresolved
  (branch merge, don't forget to commit)

Should diff cloned file against wc file:

#if windows
  $ hg falabala
  diffing "*\\extdiff.*\\a.2a13a4d2da36\\a" "*\\a\\a" (glob)
  [1]
#else
  $ hg falabala

Test --change option:

  $ hg ci -d '2 0' -mtest3
#if windows
  $ hg falabala -c 1
  diffing "*\\extdiff.*\\a.8a5febb7f867\\a" "a.34eed99112ab\\a" (glob)

#else
  $ hg falabala -c 1
  diffing */extdiff.*/a.8a5febb7f867/a a.34eed99112ab/a (glob)

Check diff are made from the first parent:

#if windows
  $ hg falabala -c 3 || echo "diff-like tools yield a non-zero exit code"
  diffing "*\\extdiff.*\\a.2a13a4d2da36\\a" "a.46c0e4daeb72\\a" (glob)

issue3153: ensure using extdiff with removed subrepos doesn't crash:

  $ hg init suba
  $ cd suba
  $ echo suba > suba
  $ hg add
  adding suba
  $ hg ci -m "adding suba file"
  $ cd ..
  $ echo suba=suba > .hgsub
  $ hg add
  adding .hgsub
  $ hg ci -Sm "adding subrepo"
  $ echo > .hgsub
  $ hg ci -m "removing subrepo"

Edit with extdiff -p:

Prepare custom diff/edit tool:

  $ cat > 'diff tool.py' << EOT
  > #!/usr/bin/env python
  > import time
  > time.sleep(1) # avoid unchanged-timestamp problems
  > file('a/a', 'ab').write('edited\n')

  > EOT

  $ chmod +x 'diff tool.py'
