sparse: fix a py2 based usage of `map()`
In a local pytype run, this fixes:

unsupported operand type(s) for item retrieval: 'fcounts: Iterator[int]' and '0: int' [unsupported-operands]
No attribute '__getitem__' on 'fcounts: Iterator[int]'
